There are many aspects of modern Turkey that have recently made it catch the eye of foreign property buyers. The country varies greatly geographically speaking. A small portion of Turkey is west of the Bosphorus known as the Instanbul Strait and is considered to be part of the mainland of Europe. It shares borders and land with Greece and Bulgaria as well as six countries of Asia. Three sides of Turkey are surrounded by different oceans – the Black Sea, the Agean, and the Mediterranean – providing it with a large and beautiful coastline.

The climate in Turkey is as diverse as the geography. It is in general a temperate climate, but because of the many mountains that run along the coastline, the weather conditions can vary. This varying climate has helped the country develop a wide range of plant and animal life.

The varied landscape of Turkey has also determined the way in which the population of the country is distributed. The biggest cities are found along Turkey’s coast. The Anatolian plateau area is generally more rural and devoted largely to agriculture. More than half of the population of Turkey live in these rural areas. While the mountains are not heavily populated, the beauty of these mountains suggests a promise for future property Turkey development if the right infrastructure were in place.

Turkey has played a big part in the history of the world and some believe that the first actual settlements of man were in what is now Turkey. This country’s history was strongly influenced by the Roman, Byzantine, and Ottoman empires. Turkey’s role in the growth of two religions that are practiced around the globe has been huge and it has made a wealth of cultural contributions to today’s world.

Turkey became a part of the UN in 1945 and seven years later joined NATO. The society of today’s Turkey is one of Europe’s youngest. The economy has grown significantly in the last 20 years. Almost the entire population is Muslim, but freedom of religion is guaranteed. Unlike most of its neighboring countries, there are few fundamentalist factions in Turkey.

It has only been in the last few years that property Turkey has become an important part of the overseas property business. Even more recently it has risen to a more prominent role. Since the boom in the development of land along the coast of Turkey and the growth in revenue that this development brought, the government has opened up the interior to foreign buyers. In the past most of the interior was off limits.
